we rejected the idea of "sit down" by james due to its slow tempo and strong 80s style, which we think would be difficult to modernise to attract our target audience. we looked up a cover "house" version of "sit down" however we did not like the style. We came across the song "video killed the radio star" by buggles. We thaught this song would be a good idea as it is quite upbeat and poppy and although it is 30 years old , it still has a modern adaptable style. There is also only one current music video which looks very old and dated and is in muted colour, so we feel there is a market open for a new and updated version.
For the content we decided to use the theme of how technology is making it harder for artist to establish themselves due to piracyafter we were inspired by the article "Music in the online agewe feel that we could produce a music video conveying this message and showing how the different generations have changed in technology. another idea we had was to convey artists "live hard die young attitude" after looking at the 27s club and haow artists are throwing their life away, we thaught about showing old footage of artists such as Marylin Monroe, Witney Huston and Amy Winehouse.
