Warp film company
would probably wish produce and distribute our film, because blood of purity contains
artistic Innovative ideas, it is also of the physiological thriller genre which
warp films have much experience working with.
For example warp productions have
produced “dead mans shoes” This was made similarly to ours, it is also of the physiological
thriller genre containing artistic innovative ideas with a unique style. The
film was also shot on a tight budget (723,000) it also features first time
actors, eg Toby Kebbell (who was later nominated for most promising newcomer at
the BIFA.)
Warp films also produced “snow town
murders” which was also made in a similar vein to blood of purity. Again, Snow
town murder is of physiological thriller genre produced with a low budget.
Similarly, snow town is quite violent and rated 18.
“Kit list”
is another film made in a similar vein to blood of purity, which proves there
experience with producing films of this genre. Kill list is in the
physiological horror genre featuring a similar violent and sinister plotline
containing large amounts of mystery and suspense. It too also had a low budget
(500,000) and is rated 18.
I believe that warp films would be
the right company for us as it’s a local independent company, that is used in
working with low critically acclaimed, or first time actors ad directors. Warp
films is used to working with and keeping to tight budgets, with a limited shooting
schedule. They also have much experience with shooting quite violent 18rated physiological
thrillers or films with an alternative genre.
Our film,
blood of purity, fits perfectly into the ethos of the institution, Warp Films has a reputation for specializing
in producing innovative, low-budget films, particularly for the art house
genre.
The same niche
audience that would be interested in warp films (eg those who subscribe to the
newsletter) would probably be interested in our film, with a similar target audience.
They would predominantly attract over 18 year old males, especially those who
are interested in watching thrilling, violent yet artistic productions. They
also attract those who are interested in Alternative, art house genres)
In order to
advertise and make money out of “blood of purity” Warp films would firstly
create an article on it in their newsletter, then advertise it on social
networking sites eg Facebook, MySpace, twitter, and would go on to be
advertised at local film festivals (eg Sundance
Film Festival), in order
to find an international distributer. Warp
are most likely to make money out of DVD sales rather than through box-office
takings as it won’t appeal to the mainstream cinema audience.
I have decided that the ideal
company that we would pick to distribute our film would be “film four”, this is
because they are a small British company who are also used to working with and
accommodating low budgeted movies, they also publicise their productions on
there channel 4 TV channel, this means they can show the blood of purity
premiere on the film 4 channel.
A foreign distributer may
also be used in order to be able to help fund blood of purity. This means that
our film will get to Europe, however as the rights to the film have been sold,
any money made from sales in that country will go back to the distributer and
so money will not be made. However it may boost its credibility internationally
and result in a worldwide increase in sales.
Overall, blood of purity will
probably make most of its money from iTunes sales, or via Internet downloads eg
vimeo. It will not however make its money from the box office, as it is not
likely to get to cinemas. This is due to the fact that our film will appeal to
a small, niche audience rather than a mainstream audience. However, the film
may be shown in some art house cinemas.
