A Political Thriller

The plotline for a political thriller will usually be based on a political power struggle, with aspects of corruption, terrorism or warfare. In this subgenre you may expect to see the involvement of spying or conspiracy scenarios; many are also based on true events. Political thrillers include JFK and The ghost writer.
